Calspan has over 60 years of supporting investigation into aircraft and vehicle aerodynamics through the use of our wind tunnels, ranging from low subsonic to transonic speeds testing. The Calspan Atmospheric Simulation Facility (ASF) is a low speed wind tunnel that is utilized to create different flow patterns in the test section dependent upon the types of tests required. This includes, for example, wind turbine technology demonstration, skier training or aerodynamic performance evaluations.

CAPABILITIES
  • Specialized for atmospheric simulation
  • 50 ft Flow development section and test section 8 ft wide by 6 ft high and 30 ft long
  • Flow velocities from 0 to 55 mph; higher speeds (100 knots) can be attained with a reduction in test section height
  • Various mounting options and configurations (e.g., sting, turntable, etc.)
