The Flight Research Group offers flight
dynamics courses to test pilots, flight
test engineers of the US Air Force and Navy
Test Pilot Schools and many of the world's
Test Pilot Schools.
Flight dynamics courses include class
room instruction and flight demonstration
using Calspan's fully instrumented Variable
Stability (VS) Learjet aircraft and the
Beech Bonanza aircraft.

FRG has provided VS demonstration services
to:
Every U.S. Navy test pilot since 1960
Every U.S. Air Force test pilot since
1963 and
Hundreds of international test pilots
since 1960
FRG provides test pilot and test engineer
ground and flight instruction in the following
subject areas:
Classical stability and control
Flying qualities
Handling qualities
Highly augmented aircraft
Piloted evaluations
Flight test techniques.
Our variable stability Learjets have
provided stability & control training
at the U.S. military test pilot schools
since 1981.
As a complement to Calspan's test pilot
and test engineer instruction programs offered
through formal Test Pilot School curricula,
handling qualities short courses are offered
at Calspan's or a customer's facility.
The handling qualities short courses
offer an intensive one or two-week classroom,
simulator, and flight test demonstration
program to cover the range of topics from
classical stability and control through
to advanced flight control system research
topics.
The program is structured to emphasize
hands-on learning including the use of piloted
simulation and flight testing to reinforce
classroom lectures and also, to address
the use of simulation and flight testing
in the evaluation of handling qualities.
Our instructors bring many years of
flight test experience to the classroom
- most are graduates of military test
pilot schools.
